If you know me, you know that I am a serial oyster lover. I woudn't quite call myself a connosisseur but, I am on my way.
Check out a few oyster eating etiquette tips below.
Start Small
If you’re a beginner, smaller oysters can be less intimidating and easier to eat, once you get comfortable you can move to bigger oysters.
Condiments
Eating oysters with a few drops of lemon is recommended. This is so you can taste the full flavor of the oyster.
Slurp, Then Chew
This is the mistake most people make. Use a tiny fork to release the oyster, then pick up the shell and slurp down the oyster, keep chewing to feel the full flavor profile and enjoy the real taste of oysters.
Buzzwords
Use some buzzwords to describe the flavor of your oysters: salty, sweet, melon, buttery, copper, briny, and metallic. Texture words: firm, chewy, gooey, soft. Size is not a good descriptor.
To End
Turn over your shells in the ice once you’ve finished.
